I was digging through an old hard drive and found this video of my twins. This was Christmas Day 2008, when they were three years old. The guitar was a Christmas gift. This cracks me up every time I watch it. I miss this age.

Just got dusty in here... My youngest is 5, and still crawls up in my lap sometimes to snuggle or asks me to hold him; I know those days are coming to an end soon.

Things definitely get different. Not necessarily easier or harder, just different. But I miss this innocence.

Before they got consumed by video games and could entertain each other without wrestling and fighting. It’s fascinating to hear them talk so far removed as we now are from that age. We had them in speech therapy for a while since they seemed a bit slow in developing. I’m not sure it helped a whole lot. Now they just mumble on purpose.

Did they do that thing where they develop their own secret language? I hear that can happen before learning proper English speech.

No, no secret language. Just slow development. When I go back and listen to videos from around this time, it’s interesting to see that I can still understand them, even though their words are often unintelligible. Of course, context plays a huge role in communication.

I wish we had taken more video from when ours were little. We have tons of pictures, but very little video.
Did your boys pick up the guitar? We tried to get both of our kids interested in music, but nothing we tried stuck.
